HISTORY of ST. JAMES' MEMORIAL EPISCOPAL CHURCH, MARION
1881-
First Episcopal service held in Harrisburg by George Franklin Seymour, first Bishop of Springfield.

1923-

A congregational meeting was held to organize and Episcopal Church. Most of the interested people had recently moved to Harrisburg from Marion, Illinois, 20 miles to the west.

1924 -

On May 14th, the mission was admitted into union with the Synod of the Diocese and called "All Saints" -- services were held in homes, the Masonic Hall and the Presbyterian Church.

1928 -

A benefactor, Mrs. Fred Boardman of New York City offered $3,500 toward a church edifice to be built in memory of her father.

1930 -

Church building consecrated by John Chanler White, Fourth Bishop of Springfield. Synod of the Diocese of Springfield gives consent for the renaming of the Mission "St. James' Memorial". Pews, an Altar, a cross, chalice, paten, and other items were given to the mission by Bishop White from churches no longer open.

1940 -

A parish hall was built.

1958 -
